発表内容：
本大会では、長年にわたるNIKKOLグリシン亜鉛コンプレックスの研究成果を基盤として、「頭皮・毛髪領域」への応用展開に焦点を当てた発表を行いました。
頭皮領域に対するアプローチとしては、炎症およびバリア機能の改善を目的に、生体における亜鉛の持つ機能に着目しました。具体的には、in vitro試験で正常ヒト角化細胞においてバリア機能の指標となるTEERの上昇および分化関連マーカー（FLG/IVL/TGM1）の増加を報告し、さらに4週間のヒト試験では、1%グリシン亜鉛配合ローションがプラセボと比較して、フケ・かゆみ・赤みの状態に基づき判定した頭皮荒れスコアおよびフケ量を有意に低減することを示しました。
毛髪領域に対するアプローチとしては、複数の亜鉛化合物を比較対象として、グリシン亜鉛が毛髪表面に選択的に吸着すること、さらに紫外線によって誘導される毛髪タンパク質のカルボニル化を他の亜鉛化合物よりも抑制することを報告しました。
今回の報告では、NIKKOLグリシン亜鉛コンプレックスの有用性を頭皮・毛髪領域へ拡張し、実証した点に意義があります。NIKKOLグリシン亜鉛コンプレックスは、肌—頭皮—毛髪に対して、生体に必要な微量元素である亜鉛を供給することで、内外美容の実現に資するポテンシャルを有しており、今後さらに研究を深めてまいります。
At the congress, we presented our research on the NIKKOL Zinc Glycine Complex (Zinc Glycinate), with a focus on its application in the scalp and hair care fields. In our approach to scalp care, we focused on zinc’s biological functions to reduce inflammation and improve barrier function. Our in vitro studies showed that Zinc Glycinate increases transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER), a key indicator of barrier function, and elevates differentiation-related markers (FLG, IVL, TGM1) in normal human keratinocytes. Furthermore, a four-week in vivo trial demonstrated that a 1% Zinc Glycinate lotion significantly reduced both scalp irritation scores and dandruff levels compared to a placebo.
For hair care, we compared several zinc compounds and found that Zinc Glycinate selectively adsorbs onto the hair surface. We also reported that it inhibits UV-induced carbonylation of hair proteins more effectively than other zinc compounds.
The findings from our presentation proved that the NIKKOL Zinc Glycine Complex is effective for both scalp and hair applications. By providing zinc, an essential micronutrient, the complex has the potential to deliver holistic inner and outer beauty to the skin, scalp, and hair. We are committed to continuing our research in this area.
