What is the NIKKOL ECO-Friendly Policy?
Setting out priority issues based on the NIKKOL GROUP Medium-Long Term Plan and the direction in which the company should proceed regarding environmental/social issues, this is the top policy concerning sustainability.
Background to formulation of the NIKKOL ECO-Friendly Policy
Since 2010, the NIKKOL GROUP has been promoting GCS+E strategies. In recent years, the Group has been seeking to achieve sustainability in the sense of maintaining and continuing good economic activity by not only reducing environmental load as stated in the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry, but also from social and economic perspectives. The Group therefore saw sustainability as a high added-value management strategy and formulated the NIKKOL ECO-Friendly Policy in 2022.
“ECO” comprises the first letters of “Ethical” (ethical business activities), “Climate” (climate change countermeasures), and “Origin” (utilization of sustainable resources), each of which is based on the following concepts as written below.
Ethical (Ethical business activities)
The NIKKOL GROUP works to realize business activities that are in line with responsible procurement of raw materials and social diversity. Keeping in mind the goals of an ethical and sustainable society, the Group will endeavor to achieve a fair and just society.
Climate (Climate change measures)
The NIKKOL GROUP aims to contribute to the prevention of global warming and climate change. The company will strive to reduce CO2 emissions and waste through initiatives addressing environmental issues, and the Group will ensure strict compliance with environment-related laws and regulations.
Origin (Utilization of sustainable resources)
By utilizing sustainable resources, the NIKKOL GROUP aspires to realize a recycling society. We will further implement biotechnology and renewable raw materials and are undertaking technological and product development.
Definition of NIKKOL ECO-Friendly Products
In order to promote sales of products in compliance with the NIKKOL ECO-Friendly Policy, our Personal Care Business Unit formulated the definition of NIKKOL ECO-Friendly Products, which establishes RSPO compliance/palm-free, silicone-free components, and petroleum-derived PEG-free as the minimum conditions that must be fulfilled.
In addition, products that comply with social contribution, Kosher requirements or ensure traceability are defined as Ethical Products, products with good biodegradability are defined as Climate Products, and upcycled/bioprocessed products are defined as Origin Products.

An original logo was created for the NIKKOL ECO-Friendly Policy and products.
The logo embodies the concept that “a single leaf, when joined by many, will grow into a large tree—representing a significant step toward protecting the global environment.”
The overall silhouette of the logo represents the letter “N” for NIKKOL, while the branching leaf veins symbolize “technology and continuous efforts expanding into the future.”
